FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can’t find your answer? Call (816) 518-1405 or email Transportation@hwlegacynemt.com.
Can a family member ride along?
Yes, when it's arranged in advance. On private-pay trips an escort or extra passenger is $10–$20. Tell us when you book so the right vehicle is assigned.
Do you wait during the appointment?
For short appointments we can wait. For longer ones it's usually better to book a return pickup, and we'll come back at the agreed time. On private-pay trips, waiting is $35 an hour after a grace period.
What if the appointment runs late?
Call dispatch. Medical appointments often run over and we plan for it. We would rather adjust the pickup than have someone waiting outside.
Can I bring my own wheelchair or oxygen?
Yes to your own wheelchair: riders stay in their own chair, secured at four points. Portable oxygen is usually fine too. Tell us the type and size when you book so we can confirm it can be carried safely.
How do I cancel?
Call as early as you can: it frees the slot for another rider who needs it. Private-pay trips cancelled late, or missed, may carry a $25–$50 fee, depending on the notice given and whether the driver is already on the way.
Does Medicaid cover every trip?
Not always. Coverage usually applies to appointments that are themselves Medicaid-covered, and often needs broker authorization first. We'll help you check before you commit.
Not sure whether you qualify? Ask us. It's free and there's no obligation.
Dispatch answers coverage questions during our operating hours. Call and we'll help you work out where you stand before you commit to anything.
